#79 - Junk journaling and mess making!

Hi Friend -

This was our first week back after vacation and it’s always oddly comforting to return to a regular schedule.

After the break, I’ve actually been pretty jazzed about some video ideas and I’ve got a new business idea that’s been swirling around in my head. I’m thinking about starting a snail mail club?!

I ran two enamel pin clubs with my shop for yeeeears and it feels like a fun time to start up a new version of the same thing. I love seeing other mail clubs doing well and I looove the beginnings of business ideas. We’ll see how it comes together!

  3. Cat eye nails. They’re so sparkly!

I promise things are coming! This is why I take a break from creating over the summer. I cannot be held to any kind of schedule when I’m the #1 caregiver for an enthusiastic 10 year old lol.

But, I can’t stop day dreaming about this mail club. I think it could be really fun! Think postcard print, stickers, all the usual, plus a letter from me? The thing I’ve been extra excited about is maybe including two postcards, so you can send one to a friend? Maybe even stamp it for you, so you don’t have to worry about it? I’m really into it and would love to know if you’d be interested!

Check out the Rainbow Cat shirts!

Don’t Forget the Small Business Archive!

  • House on Horizon - Instagram decided to show me this shop based in Traverse City, MI the day after we left! I could’ve brought this swan planter home with me!!

  • IEJ Studio - Calliope Paperie shared this card on their IG and it made me lol.

My Traverse City junk journal is coming along! I’ve been filming some of my progress and it’s going to take forever to edit lol. It’s been really fun to play with the materials and do some creative problem solving along the way. I can’t wait to show you!

The Artist’s Way Progress!

I’m going to be honest with you. I did not care for the first section of this week’s chapter. She makes some comparisons that creative block is similar to the loss of a pregnancy and that people who actively block your creativity are like people who commit SA. That, in my opinion, is borderline offensive at best. There’s not been anything that extreme anywhere else in the book. I’m going to keep reading and finish it out. But I hope they revisit this chapter in newer iterations. I have the 25th anniversary edition. Maybe I’m being too sensitive, but I just found it in poor taste.

The activities were pretty fun, in-depth journal explorations and it just felt wildly disconnected to the start of the chapter. I’ve got four weeks left! Wish me luck!

Also, don’t forget about Snart if you’re looking for some crafty ideas!

  • The Everlasting by Alix E. Harrow (hardback) - I’m still very obsessed with this book, but I’ve had to stop reading it at bedtime because it was too stressful lol! I was getting genuinely so concerned for everyone that I had to put it down.

I’m currently doing my re-read of ACOTAR in preparation for the next book that comes out in October. It’s a much easier bedtime read considering how many times I’ve already read it hahaha!

*Book links are affiliates where I get a small portion of the sale and it helps to support The Fox and the Feather, my favorite woman-owned, indie bookshop near me!

The creek in our neighborhood feels like a fairy tale.

It’s been nice to get back to our regularly scheduled program. There’s lots of ephemera and ephemera scraps all over my office and I love seeing the evidence of creativity (even if I have to clean it up later).

Please know that this weekend I’ll be mulling over names and themes for that possible mail club! Starting from scratch is so scary and exciting!

K, love you, byeeee!
