Hi Friend -
Did I tell you that our dryer shuffled off this mortal coil a few weeks ago? And we had to use a laundry service (which is amazing btw omg) while we waited for multiple contractors to get our laundry room up to code before the new machines could be installed?
It’s been pretty all-encompassing, but I have a new washer and dryer for the first time in my life! I’m very exciting and I refuse to use the app that comes with them because what do you mean my laundry would be dependent on my wi-fi connection?! Never!
Anyway, here’s what else is up this week:
The Artist’s Way - I’ll wax on about it further down, but gracious it’s good.
Kinusaiga - This craft still reigns supreme and I’m obsessed with my new WIP.
Chats with Friends - They are necessary for my soul.
Since this summer has gotten a little squirrelly, I wanted to just test the waters again and see what you’re into right now! Please take a second to let me know. I really appreciate it!
Don’t Forget the Small Business Archive!
2jingis2jing - How precious are these memo pads?!
Nominal - These Palestine Poppy earrings are gorgeous! And every order donates a meal to Palestine!
Thousand Skies - I saw these goldfish tracker stickers on Instagram this week and though they were so cute!
Yoseka - This is a stationery shop in Brooklyn and how cute is this keychain version of their exclusive pen?! It comes in multiple colors. So cool.
May Ceramics - These are sold out, but how precious?!
Modern Bronze - KwapKwapKwap posted about finding this shop at the Porter Flea in Nashville (while I was in the middle of writing this lol) and I had to check them out immediately. This snake necklace really stood out to me!
I started a very ambitious Kinusaiga project this week and I’m obsessed with it. This is a slow craft, but even with my constant swapping of colors combos, it’s coming together well.
There’s a lot of clean up to do and I have to release my perfectionism out into the ether, but I love it so far. I got the hardest part done (the edges and corners) and the rest is working up relatively quickly. I hope I can show you the finished product next week!
The Artist’s Way Progress!
Week Three seemed to concentrate on your inner child artist and really wanted you to look to outside sources for the qualities that you want to embody. Great in theory, but questions like “List five people who are dead that you’d like to hang with for a while in eternity.” are probably not intended for people who have experienced a lot of personal loss 😬 Hanging out with Artemisia Gentileschi and Agatha Christie would be amazing, but my dad and grandparents are the priority, you know?
It’s still be an interesting and enlightening project, even when I have to take it with a grain of salt. Remembering to do the Artist Date each week is the hardest part right now.
Also, don’t forget about Snart if you’re looking for some crafty ideas!
Shield of Sparrows by Devney Perry (hardback) - I’m maybe a quarter of the way through this and still have SO MANY QUESTIONS! Me and Odessa are in the dark lol.
Becoming by Michelle Obama (audiobook via Libby) - I love a self-narrated memoir! Her life is just so interesting and I’m glad this book is so long. Lots of the autobiographies I read are relative short. Maybe six or eight hours long? This one is nineteen!! I’m a Scorpio. Tell me everything!
*Book links are affiliates where I get a small portion of the sale and it helps to support The Fox and the Feather, my favorite woman-owned, indie bookshop near me!
Sorry, Ice Cream Cake by Red Velvet just came on my playlist and I need to take a minute…
Ok, I can concentrate now lol. The last couple of weeks have been really hot and humid in Michigan (even for this born and raised Texan) and we’ve just been inside organizing KPop Demon Hunters trading cards and getting Emmit’s Pokemon card collection in Pokedex order. Have I mentioned that I’m a very cool person?
I’ve also been experimenting with my journal and planner ecosystem. Hence the choice in the poll (did you vote?!). I found a Hobonichi Techo Cousin on sale and grabbed it to be my tester.
I’m currently using a Leuchtturm that’s very similar to a Hobonichi Weeks, but it feels so small. I love a fat pen and there’s just not a lot of room to write. But the Cousin has too much room? I’m figuring it out! If anyone has any favorite layouts or YouTubers for this very niche issue, let me know!
I hope you have a fantastic weekend! We’ll be celebrating the holiday by eating vegan hotdogs and watching Ken Burns’ American Revolution on PBS, so we can give our child some real information about it!
K, love you, byeeee!
♡ Becky
