As most of you reading know, I took an extended bread from social media about a year ago. I felt very called to step away, be quiet and be more present with my family. The whole influencer culture feels very yucky to me and I never want anyone to think I’m just trying to sell them something or that I’m not truly authentic on the internet.
I love writing on Substack though and after some time away, I decided to come back on social media in my own way. I started a new Instagram handle called plumfieldhomeschool if you want to follow along with our travel and homeschool adventures. I’ll be posting there as regularly as I can in the upcoming weeks as we embark on this giant family adventure to Portugal. I think there’s so much darkness in the world right now and we all have to do our part to battle that and to spread the light, which is what I hope to do with plumfieldhomschool.
Why Plumfield, you ask? Do you know what Plumfield is? Think back to a famous work of literature…hint hint. When we first started homeschooling in 2020, I named our homeschool “Plumfield” after Jo’s school for energetic boys in the book Little Men. It stuck and we (my kids and I) have been referring to our homeschool as Plumfield ever since. If you haven’t read Little Men, I highly recommend it - it is one of my very favorite books ever.
