Happy Friday, dear reader! Guess what? Tomorrow is Bookstore Romance Day! The technical definition of Bookstore Romance Day is “a day designed to give independent bookstores an opportunity to celebrate Romance fiction—its books, readers, and writers—and to strengthen the relationships between bookstores and the Romance community.” My unofficial definition is “the day to spend all your moolah on morally grey men!!!!!!”

Find participating bookstores here! If you don’t have any local shops participating, check out Bookshop.org! You can choose which bookstore you’d like to support, and 30% of the book’s list price goes toward that bookstore!

If you are browsing the shelves of your local bookstore tomorrow and looking for some inspiration, here are a few butterfly-inducing romance novels I’ve read recently!

Let’s Kiss and Tell (Shelve on Goodreads), What to Cook When You Don’t Feel Like Cooking: Make it Fast (COOKBOOK!)

Speaking of Caro’s release this week, she was my latest guest on Cake with Katie! Find our interview below (totally free to read!)!

This week, I finished Fossil Feud by Maggie North! It was a really cute romance set on a fossil dig site. The book started off really strong for me, and then I lost steam, which was definitely a Katie problem and not a book problem! This is when I must point out that I am only human! Find my full review here!

I also finished the batshit crazy “erotic thriller” Helpless last weekend. WOWZA. Impossible to put down and not for everyone, but read the synopsis and see if it’s for you! Find my full review here.

The most-clicked link this week by BR&B readers was my BELOVED Lululemon high-waisted skort!

Comment with your favorite book you’ve read this summer by Monday, 8/17, for a chance to win this mini bottle of Veuve as a thank you for reading my Friday Favs!

I’ve just started If Not for My Baby by Kate Golden, which is our B.R.A.D. book of the month!! Pick it up tomorrow for Bookstore Romance Day and read it with me!

Find it on Bookshop.org or at your library here! Adding it to your TBR? Shelve it on Goodreads here!

I have waxed poetic about my mattress before, but it deserves a permanent place amongst my favorites. I have the Leesa Sapira Hybrid Mattress in medium-firm. I paid full price for this mattress and bought it after having the best sleep of my life at our rental in Nantucket last fall and asking the owner for the mattress details. I’ve talked about them so much that they were between giving me a restraining order and a code, and they went with the latter: BRAB75 gets you $75 off, and it’s stackable with whatever other codes you can scrounge up!

I decided I needed to take my skincare more seriously, so I dusted off this Currentbody mask I got last fall and then learned I couldn’t use it while pregnant (? This could be wrong, so if you’re pregnant, don’t fret and surely don’t listen to me for medical advice). So, I am excited to start using it! I also booked a consultation at my local med spa because I want a facial (no injectables yet! Less some sort of moral high ground and more a fear of needles), and they can’t get me in until October 27th, so I assume that must mean they are very good?

The closest I got to buying anything was this pink sweater. The color and the V-neck are making it very hard for me to say no. I try to stay away from drab winter colors and instead invest in gorgeous hues to brighten up those dreary winter days. I am also eyeing the Hanni hydration mist after watching a very compelling TikTok about it…

This week I made…

  • Two recipes from Caroline Chambers’ latest cookbook, and both dishes my husband gave perfect 10s to. The Sticky Orange Chicky and Brussels I served over white rice, and it was so delicious. The Simple Ricotta Meatballs make your house smell delicious as they cook in your oven for 3 hours (only about 20 minutes of cooking work, the rest you let the oven do its thing). She provides a garlic bread recipe I used that was out of this world, and I served it with the meatballs over spaghetti. Insanely delicious.

  • Goodles Mac and Cheese… TWICE!

  • Chocolate chip cookies using these chocolate chips and the recipe on the bag! This is my baking sheet that I LOVE! Nonstick but also no weird chemicals! I have the large size, but now that I’ve linked it, I want the 3-pack!

Correction from last week: I mentioned air-fried potatoes but screwed up the link! Here you go! So sorry!
