Bazaar Bakery Is Open

Happy Monday, friends.

This was supposed to go out yesterday, but I didn’t finish it in time.

Every few months, I have a few girlfriends over for an afternoon at my place for a fun project. It’s not a real bakery, obviously. It’s just a girl hang with an assignment. I pick a theme, everyone bakes a dish, and I make us lots of caffeinated bevs. The main goal is to host and instill more community.

This time, the theme was Radio Bakery . I’m a hugee Radio fan, and every summer I wait for their heirloom tomato and blueberry corn croissants to come back. I told everyone to choose something from the menu and make their version of it. I was also lowkey terrified that i picked this theme because 1. it was a last min invite and 2. i had no time to test. which means i get 1 shot whether it works or not.

The girls who came are all friends I’ve made through food. Fun fact: none of us started here. We all used to work corporate jobs at one point, and now we work full-time in food media, recipe development, or content. isnt that crazyyy?

Anyway, here’s the line up:

Isabelle brought a tomato focaccia. Audrey also brought tomato focaccia, but hers had herby feta, so technically they were different. Rachel made brown butter corn cakes in tiny seashells and Christine made Earl Grey doughnut holes inspired by Radio’s early grey morning bun.

I made the tomato croissant and the blueberry corn croissant. For drinks, I made us iced horchata lattes. I LOVEEE playing around with drink flavors..if u don’t already know.

Nothing on the table was a perfect recreation. We all had notes on what worked and what we would change next time. But that was the whole point for doing it. We tried something new, made it with our hands, and learned along the way.

I wanted to write down how I made the blueberry corn one before I forgot. This is less of a formal recipe and more of my version. But it was verryyy close to how Radio Bakery’s croissant tasted.
