Is this thing on?

One thing about dynamically-generated CMSes is that one needs to keep them up to date, in case there have been any security or other issues. I logged into this blog, hit the update button, and I'm running the latest. While in here, I noticed there have been a ton of improvements since I last checked in. Kev has been doing a great job here.

I'm so moody when it comes to blogging

"I'll only ever use an SSG for my blog!", I said, unconvincingly. Sometimes I don't want to. Sometimes Kev comes along and makes something like Pure Blog and I think, "Well, that's better!" I can't have both. Or can I? It seems I have both right now. I dig Pure Blog, but if something has to give, it'll probably be that. I'm not ready to bail quite yet. It's too easy and simple and nice. So, I'll…

52 Pick-Up (1986) ★★★

This was gloriously sleazy and surprisingly not bad. https://letterboxd.com/film/52-pick-up/ The review image above was made possible by Kevin 's super handy Media Card Generator

Pelicans, Hobe Sound FL (2013). Leica M3. So, yeah, it's a point-and-click sort of day. I read a post earlier and thought I'd write a note about it, but the whole thing felt like too much work, so I didn't bother. I've been having issues with Emacs, so my Hugo workflow is wonky. The daily blog would have been suitable and easy enough, but I'm wrestling with Markdown vs Rich Text in Tinderbox. I'm…

No reason, just for fun

I don't know that I'm back here with Pure Blog, tbh, but this morning feels like a lean back and do computer stuff sort of day, rather than the usual both-hands-on-keyboard-for-everything kind of day. Pure Blog makes that easy. That's it, I guess, I just wanted to post something. Here's a photo of some bouys I took while in Maine. No reason, just for fun. Bouys, Maine (2012). Leica M7 / Portra 400…

Kev introduces Pure Comments

Now that I sort of went back to hugo on the other blog, of course Kev introduces Pure Comments . Now what am I supposed to do? 😁

Pausing this (for now)

I love what Kev has done with Pure Blog . It's great, but I think I need to stick with a static site for now. I'm used to it, and I have a Whole Thing built around Emacs and Hugo. It's not like Pure Blog is difficult to host or anything, but my Hugo blog is simpler. All my Hugo content starts locally, which I prefer. It's not Pure Blog, it's me. I'm fickle, and could be back before you know it, so…

*Yin/Yang/Urinate. Leeloo and Katie (2009). iPhone One of the draws of macOS has always been its level of polish. That's increasingly no longer a thing. Still, it's a few lengths ahead of Linux on the available software front. The last thing I need is a 7th weather app on my phone, but Acme Weather

I'm trying hard to get good enough at using Darktable that I don't mind using Darktable. It's slow going. macOS or Linux...one of them should go. Using both is crazy-making and I don't know if it's sustainable. I spent most of the day with Linux. I've gotten to the point where I almost prefer KDE and Gnome to macOS. It's the software, though. Darktable could eventually pull me from Capture One…

Wearing my hat (2026). Leica M3 / HP5 @1600 I spend many, many hours changing and tweaking my photography workflows, just in case I actually take photos one day. Also, I've made a mess doing it. People sometimes take the things I say too seriously. My whole blogging history is littered with temporary opinions and untested theories. I write what I'm thinking, at that moment. I'm moody and…
