British Reform UK leader Nigel Farage won his local election last week, calling it a “resounding victory,” even though all the main political parties boycotted the vote in protest. An investigation into his finances will continue, surrounding his failure to declare a £5m (€5.85m) financial gift from crypto investor Christopher Harborne. In the election, Farage won about 63% of the vote. His main challenger, comedian Jon Harvey, running as trash-can-costumed “Count Binface,” secured roughly 27% of the vote. Politico.eu had the headline: “Farage’s victory over Binface won’t silence his critics.”
Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk said his country’s authorities have thwarted a plan to kill a Ukrainian-American citizen in Warsaw. Tusk said it was the first time that “someone on the order of Russia” sought to attack a U.S. citizen on the territory of another NATO country. The citizen in question “was uncomfortable for the Putin regime.” The Indian embassy in Slovenia was vandalized in the capital, Ljubljana.
