For those who love true crime and travel, you’re going to love this guide. Here’s the blurb:
As Close as You Can Get to True Crime While Still Breathing!
For the true crime lover—finally, a travel guide from an award-winning travel journalist and suspense author that gives you the down and dirty on exactly where the major crimes occurred, and where the bodies are buried. For aficionados of paranormal, prison, and tombstone travel, there’s a goldmine of tourism suggestions for you here as well. This is the second in the Vacations Can Be Murder series. Along with summaries of the major crimes committed in the Mid-Atlantic states of New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania, you’ll discover where to find the best crime and ghost tours; which hotels and restaurants are former jails, courthouses, or harbor paranormal activity; where infamous criminals are/were jailed, and which venues and attractions might feed your fancy for murder and justice. Reading lists in each chapter will guide you to books expounding on the crimes discussed. Best of all, suggested itineraries bring all the pieces together to help you traverse the region’s criminal landscape in an organized and entertaining way. Up for a true crime road trip? Let Vacations Can Be Murder be your ultimate travel guide.
To win a paperback copy, send me an email between now and March 31st with the subject line: “Vacations Can Be Murder raffle. “ That’s all there is to it! I’ll pick a winner shortly after the end of the month and will announce that winner in next month’s newsletter. (If you win, I’ll be emailing you for your snail mail address!) Good luck!
NOTE: The winner of February’s raffle was Susan Atkins, who won a paperback copy of Maximum Range-Perfect Shot. Congratulations, Susan!

The Secret Diary of Hendrik Groen 83 1/4 Years Old by Hendrik Groen
What an absolutely fun book, and the first in a series. I heartily recommend it.
Thanks for reading Barr Sinister: The Suspenseful World of D.M. Barr! This post is public so feel free to share it.
Editing:
One of the books I edited, Maximum Range - Perfect Shot by J.M. Schneider, hit the stands and is doing well, I’m delighted to say. (You can pick it up on Kindle Unlimited!). A few new contracts have come in that will keep me busy, and I’m being considered as the editor for a new crime fiction imprint, so big news may be coming soon.
If you’re a writer attending Killer Nashville, I’ll be meeting with authors to discuss the manuscript snippets they send me in advance. This looks to be an amazing conference, and I hope to see you there.
Book Accolades:
I won’t know if I’m more than just a finalist for the Agatha and Chanticleer Awards until the end of April. In the meantime, I’ve entered Deadly When Disturbed into the Daphne du Maurier competition and Vacations Can Be Murder (both volumes) into the Lowell Thomas competition. Nomination ballots have gone out for the Anthony Awards, and I’m eligible in three categories, so fingers crossed!
Personal Appearances:
I’m still promoting the new release, Vacations Can Be Murder: A True Crime Lover’s Travel Guide to the Mid-Atlantic States. Here’s a photo from my appearance at Sparkle Bookshop in Sparkill, NY, where I’m joined by fellow authors Emilya Naymark and Elf Ahearn:
