It’s July 2, 2026 and a new nation is at hand.

250 Years Ago Today, the 13 British Colonies Voted to Declare Independence From England
John Adams said he thought the day would be marked forever with parades and fireworks. “That is,” he said, “Until we start handing this new nation over to America-hating anti-Semitic fascists who make King George look like George Washington.” That’s what he said.
Actually, Adams did think July 2nd would be the day we would celebrate annually. Not the Fourth, which was the day the Declaration of Independence document was approved. But Thomas Jefferson had a better publicist.
Adams also predicted Taylor and Travis were just a fling and would never last more than a month.
“SACRED HONOR”: Tonight at 8 pm, the Daily Signal will be premiering a new documentary on vote for Independence and crafting of the Declaration. It’ll be at the Daily Signal site, YouTube, X and all over the place. Got to see it Tuesday night, and though the car chases through Philadelphia were a bit much, it’s really good and really worth a watch.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Holding Wedding This Weekend in Madison Square Garden?
Unless it’s one big fake-out and they’re getting hitched in an Elvis chapel in Vegas.
Would Swift spend all this money making it look like the Garden is the spot just to throw off the paparazzi? That would be her slickest move since dumping country music for pop. Then again, who doesn’t love a Garden wedding?
Supposedly, the couple is having a rehearsal today, with a bigger 1,000 guest wedding tomorrow. Or 100 guests and 900 of her ex’s.

Trivia buffs: Swift and Kelce wouldn’t be the first celebrity wedding at Madison Square Garden. Music legend Sly Stone married Kathy Silva on stage in 1974 right before a Sly and the Family Stone show. That marriage went “Boom-lacka-lacka-lacka” after two years.

Actually, the sign said ““When the power of love beats the love of power, the world knows peace.”
The man and woman, Ivan Kuznetsov, 32, and Angelina Nikolau, 33, then climbed down from the radio tower, and he proposed. Then as they were leaving they ran into this guy from Seattle and a blonde from Detroit … and a precocious little kid who left his bag on the observation deck.
That’s one case where we hope they don’t take the plunge.

Who had on their bingo card John Denver being the hottest act in music this year?
Good. John Denver is the most underappreciated American musical artist of late 20th Century. Was considered a joke, never taken seriously, certainly not fawned over like other singer-songwriters of the era. They focused on the “Far Out,” aw shucks personality, the granny glasses, the mop-top blonde hair. Not the music. The lyrics. C’mon, “You know he’d be a poorer man if he never saw an eagle fly,” “But the dawn is breaking, it’s early morn. The taxi’s waiting, blowin’ its horn. Already I’m so lonesome I could cry.”
And …
Well, I guess there were some hard times
And I’m told some years were lean
They had a storm in 47
A twister came and stripped ‘em clean
He lost the farm and lost his family
He lost the wheat and lost his home
But he found the family Bible
A faith as solid as a stone
That’s some writing right there.
