Most of the focus in the last Flip Files entry was rinse and repeat—finding cards and card types you’ve flipped before for repeated profit.
Today? Two cool cards I’ve never even seen before.

If you’ve been in cards long enough, you’ve undoubtedly seen this card:
Very cool card, especially for me as an alum. But, not worth a whole lot.
But this card? I’ve never seen it in my life, and I don’t think others have either.
It popped up on COMC for a relatively steep $49 given there wasn’t a comp in sight from my research—nothing sold recently, nothing sold a long time ago, nothing currently listed.
The only thing I had to go off of was a Reggie Jackson priced for sale at around $20.
So, you know my motto… embrace the weird.
You also know my other motto… no comp, no problem. Or, no comp, yes buy.
I made the purchase a little over a week ago, priced at $150 and sold it today.
$142.50 after fees and if I want to take that money out of my COMC account, it’s another 10% on the amount withdrawn. So, close to $80 profit.

The card flip scavenger hunts are fun. I find cards I think will make for good flips and post them to our chat area. You all go out and find the card to buy and then hopefully flip for profit.
Besides the main and obvious benefits, one secondary benefit is that it gets people out looking for steals. There have been a number of times where someone missed out on the scavenger hunt card only to find something else just as cool or even better.
On 7/18 I posted that this card was listed for $1, and might be a mistake but worth taking a shot on:
While only one person was able to grab it, others noticed the seller had a ton of cool $1 cards.
A couple days later I was looking through some things and saw the seller had this listed for a $1:
What made me stop and look closer? Opening Day is a sneaky valuable set. I just repeated that again a couple of days ago.
Also, Adam Jones has a nice market, relatively.
Got the card in, listed for $39.99, and sold the same day. After fees I got $31.17 or a nice and tidy $30 profit.

One of the biggest misconceptions in card flipping is that every profitable flip comes from chasing the same handful of hot players or sets. Sometimes that's true. Other times, all it takes is recognizing something unusual, trusting your research, and being willing to buy when everyone else scrolls past. Keep looking, keep learning, and don't be afraid to embrace the weird. Those are often the cards that pay the best.
