Baldwin House · Baldwin House newsletter

Hi Baldwin House Community,

May is almost over which means Pride month is here! It also means our Beehive is nearing the end of our fundraising sprint. We’ve had so many great events over the past couple of months, and it’s been great to see how the community has come together to help Baldwin House continue to thrive! Keep reading for more ways to get involved in June!

What’s new at Baldwin House:

  • This past week we sang our hearts out at Campy Comrades! The talent show and fundraiser was a great way for our community to come together, relive the nostalgia of summer camp, and nurture our inner theater kids. We also had the opportunity to connect with neighbors at the 13th St Block Party and at our silent auction where we sold nearly 75 works of local art! All together we raised over $4k to pay off our debt and make Baldwin House truly affordable. Thank you to everyone who came out to join us for these events and for the organizers who made them possible!

  • We launched our new merch!

We do these biweekly, every other Saturday from 10-12pm, so if you can’t join this one on May 31st, join for the next one on June 14th.

The DC Chapter of Resource Generation is hosting the next event in the series “I’m a Gentrifier, Now What: Moving From Awareness to Action” on Saturday, May 31st, 4-6pm, followed by a social dinner with neighbors at a home in Mt Pleasant.

Self-identified gentrifiers are invited to gather to strategize about how we can each take action to respond to gentrification through:

  • Personally, by building meaningful relationships with neighbors

  • Politically, by showing up for local campaigns

  • Redistribution, by moving money to community institutions. There will be an invitation to donate to Baldwin House

Space is limited! Register at tinyurl.com/gentrifier3
