Why the body can stop moving while the day continues running inside you

You waited for this moment all day.

The work is finished. Dinner is handled. The messages can wait. You finally sit down on the couch or get into bed, expecting the relief you have been promising yourself since the morning.

But relief does not arrive.

Your body is still, yet your mind keeps moving.

You remember something you forgot to do. You replay a conversation. You think about tomorrow. You reach for your phone without deciding to. You open a video, check a message, move to another app, and half-watch something while thinking about three unrelated things.

Technically, you are resting.

Internally, the day is still happening.

This is one of the strangest forms of modern tiredness. The body stops because it has run out of places to go, but the mind never receives a clear ending.

You finally sat down.

Your attention did not sit down with you.
