Some exhausting days are easy to explain.

You slept badly.

Work was difficult.

Something stressful happened.

You had an argument.

You traveled for hours.

Of course you are tired.

Other days are harder to understand.

Nothing really went wrong.

Work was normal.

Nobody upset you badly.

You did not experience a crisis.

You ate, answered messages, completed your responsibilities, maybe went somewhere, came home, and suddenly felt like you had nothing left.

You sit down and think:

Why am I this tired?

This kind of exhaustion can make you question yourself because there is no obvious event to blame.

But the body does not only respond to big events.

It responds to accumulation.

A dozen small decisions.

Constant background noise.

A conversation where you had to stay polite.

The commute.

Switching between tasks.

Checking your phone.

Remembering what needs to happen tomorrow.

Being interrupted.

Trying to stay focused.

Holding your reaction.

None of these things may be enough to ruin a day.

Together, they can quietly use most of your capacity.
