You slept.
Maybe not perfectly, but enough that you expected to feel better.
The alarm went off, and the tiredness was still there.
Not always the heavy tiredness of staying awake all night. Something quieter. Your body can move, but it feels reluctant. Your mind can work, but everything seems to require more effort. You are not exactly sleepy. You are worn down.
This is the kind of exhaustion that creates confusion because the obvious solution is more sleep.
So you sleep longer on the weekend.
You stay in bed later.
You cancel plans.
You spend the evening on the couch.
Yet the tiredness keeps returning.
Sleep matters deeply, but not every form of fatigue begins with a lack of sleep. Sometimes the body has been sleeping while the rest of you has remained overloaded.
Your attention has not rested.
Your emotions have not rested.
Your sense of responsibility has not rested.
Your nervous system has not received a clear ending.
When this happens, more time in bed can help, but it may not reach the part of you that is actually exhausted.
