What’s on your desk? This is a question I asked my friend Charlene who owns Beartooth Cleaning in Red Lodge, Montana. She’s got a cute {well…you can look and figure that out for yourselves…} mascot named Simon that has investigated and published his findings here.
But that begs the question…what’s on my desk?
I mean I do spend inordinate amounts of time at my desk, so one would assume it’s a wonderful place to be. And it is!
My desk is small and actually is a piece of furniture that I repurposed. I love doing that by the way. Taking old furniture and painting it and giving it a new life!
Behind my small white desk is a big teal sign leaning against the wall that says “Life is better at the beach”. Gotta agree, yep it is!
I write with my “verses book” next to me on a little white metal stool. I’ve written about my verses book before and you can read that here.
I have what I call my yellow chair. Which is of course yellow! It was set out as trash in my old neighborhood in Ohio and of course I snatched it right up. It’s an IKEA type plastic chair and I love it. My favorite chair of all time! I’ve got a beach themed pillow and throw on it.
I write on my IPad and it has a pink cover as one would assume of course! This sits on a stack of Bibles and old prayer journals to make it ergonomically correct. I’m sure it’s still not, but hey I try (insert sad face here).
I have a small pink Bible sitting out that I use when I write sometimes. And I just like to have it next to me. It’s a special Bible to me.
I have a scarf that lives on my desk that I use for my prayers when I lay face down to pray. Many times it’s not even sitting on my desk, because I’ve been using it. But my desk is its official home and I like that. It’s comforting to me.
That’s it.
There is not one other thing on my desk.
Absolutely no paper. NOT ONE SINGLE NOTE OR PIECE OF PAPER WILL EVER TOUCH MY DESK. Yikes. That’s quite serious. A pretty strong reaction to paper. YES it is. And NO paper will ever prevail on my desk.
It’s very bare. Very simple. Very quiet.
And this is where I write from my heart everyday!
The best part about my desk is the ambient noise of the people going to the beach. I love those sounds. It calms me in some sort of way. It makes my heart happy. I’ve always felt such a strong connection to the beach. So hearing all the wonderment of people getting there as I write brings me joy.
Once in a while I will live on the edge and bring my tea over to my desk when I write (insert smile here).
Usually my phone is sitting there as well because well…you know. I do use it as I write and work on my website to check the format of the graphics and blah blah blah.
So if you’ve ever wondered where it write (and you may not have)(insert that adorable thinking emoji here), well now you know. My desk.
Until next time…

Kendra
