Summer is here and in the face of the ongoing injustices perpetrated by blood-thirsty governments, let’s not lose our ability to experience joy in whatever form it presents to us. It could be the joy of celebrating the Knicks or your favorite soccer team, or a more petty joy like watching the stupid Deflection Pool fall apart alongside the crumbling facade of the barrage of idiotic propogandist lies constantly thrown at us, or darker joy of anticipating a certain inevitable day for a certain piece of human garbage.
Those are more superficial forms of joy, of course. What I am most after is the satisfaction of engaging in creativity in any and all of its forms, and no matter where it takes us. That sort of freedom lives inside us all, but also requires a world and community that helps bolster and encourage a sense of possibility.
It may seem simple to log on to Zoom and write at the same time as others, but it’s part of making a world we want to live in. I want to live in a world of creativity (and one that removes money as a marker of value). So, thanks to everyone who shows up to Work Room and creates a space where we can engage with the process regardless of results.
If you haven’t been yet, imagine what you’ve been missing and jump in if you can!
For July, we are going to meet only on Fridays, but we will work for two hours! As always, come for as much or as little as you can! Register by clicking below.
