Never in my life have I felt what I felt this weekend in New York… The Knicks, the World Cup, the Puerto Rican parade, all wrapped in this perfect disgusting heat that we all just have to submit to. I feel that collective effervescence that is what makes us oh so very human. I feel so proud to be part of this city, and to be part of this little corner of it that we call Baby’s. Lots of reasons to keep the party goin, read on down - Caroline
MONDAY:
EARLY: SOPHIE SAID (7:00PM) <21+>
What did she say? We all find out tonight. Moody r+b pop going on here, her voice is like melted butter and wouldn’t ya know it, she is also a vocal coach. Support from Bri and Mimika, seems like an easy Monday hang to me! - Caroline
WEDNESDAY:
EARLY: SOPHIA JAMES (7:00PM) <AA>
Sophia’s new EP is sultry power pop, her vocals are juicy and jazzy and the production is warm. Support from Julesy who we’ve grown really fond of over here, take this glittery little number for a spin. - Caroline
Sophia James has a knack for turning overthinking into wonderful pop music. Her songs have a real personal feel without getting bogged down in all the seriousness. If you’ve ever convinced yourself a minor inconvenience was actually a sign from the universe, this one’s for you. - Baby Intern Ava
THURSDAY:
EARLY: ARTS FISHING CLUB (7:00PM) <21+>
Folksome indie rock from Nashville, reminds me of Mt Joy. If you can’t make it on Thursday, here is a link to book them in your living room. Supported by Cardinal Bloom from Salt Lake City. - Caroline
FRIDAY:
FRONT ROOM: SLAYER GLOBAL PRIDE (9:00PM) <21+>
Free pride party in the front room dance floor with DJ sets all nite from 9PM onward from @freakfrankfrunk, @akira.operating.system, @dominicrichh , and @caratastrophethebside. - Caroline
EARLY: GIRLPUPPY (7:00PM) <21+>
Puppies and ponies on a friday night our lives are just full of whimsy and joy around every corner. I first saw Girlpuppy play w chloe (sweet93) at purgatory a few years ago, it was a dreamy and angelic set. This one will be flanked by Blake who is dreamy and angelic in his own way. - Caroline
Atlanta indie pop darling Girlpuppy brings us a last minute treat for our Friday evening. Support from Olive Bernard and Blaketheman1000 (running it back!) - Eli
LATE: GALLIPONY (10:00PM) <21+>
Gallipony - This is going to be fun and sexy as hell. New single ‘Hot and Bothered’ is loud and brash and the video is excellent. Laundry list of excellent DJs and performers on this one. This could be your afterparty. It could be your pres. It could be your main event. It should be you! - Oscar
SATURDAY:
EARLY: DORIAN ELECTRA (7:00PM) <21+>
A mainstay of experimental pop music now, Dorian makes their Baby’s debut. The new self-titled record is as rambunctious as we’ve come to expect. 10 tracks of bona fide bangers satirising the current post-ironic endorsement of mainstream pop music, each song a singular cover of legendary tracks from Gorillaz, Eminem, Shakira, New Order, etc. Veronica Everheart on support: Saturday will be an exposure of what pop music can really be. - Oscar
Electropop nonconformist Dorian Electra is coming in hot supporting their most recent self-titled album (thorbin as hell) - Eli
LATE: BABY DANCE (11:00PM) <21+>
Sttttttacked bill from our friend Kyle. Bands include Alana Markel (her recent EP has been on rotation nearly daily, fully honest), Christian Pace, Prom, and Villagerrr (one of my favorite bands doing the countrygaze tapdance and their most recent record is proof of concept.) Free as a bird. - Caroline
SUNDAY:
EARLY: FUTURE TEENS, SNARLS (7:00PM) <AA>
Pop punk night. In Future Teen’s own words, “it’s been ten years since they coined the term ‘bummer pop’ to describe their tracks about romantic frustrations, misfortunes and miscommunications. As you get older, the bummers get heavier and more complex, but the friendships and life lessons that help carry you through them also grow deeper and more meaningful.” Ain’t that just the truth… - Caroline
and, just for fun, one for the Knicks 🥇
