I am obviously convinced that astrological magic works and works well, if you know what you’re doing1. However, even if you manage to access quality talismans and/or talismanic materia (whether by buying it or making it yourself), this isn’t to say that astrological magic is all a day at the beach. When you get what you want, you might not be entirely ready for it. Some of this stuff warrants a warning—so with this in mind, let’s dig into Regulus considerations!

If you’re totally unfamiliar with Regulus, feel free to check out last month’s article all about it:

Regulus brings public honours, visibility, increased confidence—considered kingly attributes. One could argue Regulus bestows a certain type of luck2, and that luck very much has to do with the support of powerful ancestors—whether of blood, of craft, of affinity.

It’s a leadership star for sure, but to be blunt, it’s also a cult leader star3. Influence is a spectrum, and in there you’ll find responsible and generous (thought-)leaders4 as well as corrupt whips, greedy influencers, predatory performers, and straight-up genocidal tyrants5.

A lot of people turning to Regulus magic desire more visibility, because this is considered especially crucial to success nowadays. If you don’t have 50K followers on Instagram, some publishers won’t even consider your book proposal. If people don’t hear about you from social media, they might think you’ve retired. Everyone needs to brand and is supposed to keep an daily online presence (sigh).

Regulus can help with these issues6, and so everyone and their mother is doing Regulus magic to help overcome impostor syndrome and let their business survive brutal algorithms. I get it, but there’s also something unnerving about people running after visibility, often like it’s a prize in and of itself, and without considering the potential pitfalls. I have always considered visibility to be a price to pay, not a reward.

Consider: becoming more visible means that any flaw in your armour will also be more visible. Someone might get catapulted to incredible eminence in their field, but be unequipped to deal with the intimidation, envy and evil eye that will come their way as a result. Magical protection should come before (or alongside) stepping into the spotlight and being suddenly subjected to intense scrutiny. Otherwise, you’re only as solid as other people’s mercy lets you be. If you’re going to cave as soon as someone threatens (or seems to threaten) you with a curse7, I have to break it to you that you’ll be a liability, not a leader.

People want Regulus’ promise of glory and fame. But what of the responsibilities? What of the trust placed in you as someone with a platform? Are you ready for the expectations thrust upon you once you are admired and beloved, followed as an example, cited as a reference?

Before going hard with Regulus to get all of the acclaim you think you desire, make sure you’ll know what do with it. I’ve seen more than one person skyrocket thanks to Regulus magic, only to act disappointingly mediocre when it came to leading by example.

Regulus demands bravery and nobility of soul. Not a holier-than-thou, superior attitude, but actual fucking courage. This is how I know Regulus to be akin to Mars and Jupiter, and personally prefer this framework to a Solar one: Mars being courage, Jupiter being wisdom8. Regulus, at best, embodies both and radiates it outward, as a beacon for other people still in need of growing a backbone. Going to Regulus because you want to be visible without giving it further thought does seem to be overblown Sun behaviour, however9.

Make sure you are ready to strive for bravery and discernment, because it’ll be (oh so) needed if you want a sturdy, responsible legacy beyond your hour of glory. You can do all the magic you want, but it doesn’t come with built-in ethics. You always need to define your own priorities—and you better do it before engaging with Regulus magic.

Now that I’ve thoroughly exposed some of the glaring challenges I can see around Regulus magic, let’s get into what can actually go well.

One could argue that all benefic magic is healing magic, and I would be inclined to agree. As it were, Regulus has been associated to healing by more than one contemporary. Kaitlin Coppock considers Regulus as a Solar star, and describes Regulus as helping with patrilineal issues, which are often considered Solar issues. Chloe Margherita has written about her experience being diagnosed with endometriosis and ties it to Regulus engagement, and she speaks of Regulus as distinctly feminine. She recounts the making a Regulus oil:

I blessed the oil for help with authenticity, visibility, and power, all the normal Regulus attributes, but also added in healing, a lesser known facet of this royal star.

— Recent Bedroom, The Feminine Regulus

I for one don’t care to gender any given star generally speaking, but I find it very interesting to see that range in how Regulus shows up for people. And my personal experience has been that Regulus can be tremendously supportive for ancestral healing, specifically.

Regulus is the marker star for the 10th Lunar station, the Maghā nakshatra. This is something I didn’t get around to mentioning in the article above, but that has been pretty key to my understanding of Regulus, especially in a magical context. Presiding over Maghā are Pitṛs, elevated ancestors.

I was amused to notice that Daniel Foor, who wrote Ancestral Medicine and provides courses about ancestral healing, was born with Saturn in Maghā10. Italian 19th century medium Eusapia Paladina was born with her Ascendant in Maghā. Allan Kardec was born with Venus in Maghā. American spiritualist, medium and astrologer Radamie Herman Aistrop: Sun in Maghā. And so on, and so forth, I found many more examples of emphasis on this nakshatra for people involved in ancestral practices and communication with the Dead.

Praying to Regulus for ancestral support and ancestral healing is tremendously underrated. Offerings of Regulus materia can be made to resourced ancestors to great effect—note that this does include ancestors of craft and affinity, not just ancestors of blood.

I discussed some of this with MercuryinSag and she provided this delicious meme which is basically a sum-up of my praxis around Regulus magic:

Have you already worked with Regulus magically? Would you like to? Feel free to share your impressions, remarks or questions in the comments below.

1

At least a little bit as a buyer, and thoroughly as a mage who ensoul talismans or talismanic materia.

2

Actually, one could argue each star bestows a certain type of luck when propitiated properly, but I digress.

3

I have done a fair amount of research on cult leaders and cult members, which I might write on in the future. Regulus is in the top 5 stars that showed up the most often in these charts.

4

Among the nicer examples I have: Abigail Thorn, Daniel Foor, Willi Müzenberg,

5

Pam Bondi, Sarah Knafo, Nick Fuentes, Olivier Duhamel, Drake, Jair Bolsonaro, current USA President, etc.

6

Which is not to say Regulus is the only power in capacity to help with these topics. But that would be a topic for another article.

7

Or something more mundane!

8

Obviously this is a very quick delineation, and both Mars and Jupiter have more range than that.

9

I will admit to have a bias there, favouring Mars-Jupiter over the Sun generally speaking… But I do think the best of what Mars and Jupiter have to offer, combined, speaks to better potential for leadership than just the Sun. I don’t love centralised authority based on performance, image and charisma.

He mentioned his exact birth data in a newsletter some time ago, much to my delight. He also has Venus and Mercury in sidereal Leo.
