A very short article, for once!

The gist of what I have to say in this piece is:

  • Astrological magic can absolutely change your life for the best;

  • Talismanic spirits are going to work with what you already have;

  • I would recommend adjusting your expectations to keep both in mind.

As far as astrological magic with talismans and talismanic materia are concerned, I have personally experienced and witnessed supportive change to a degree that I would, without exaggeration or grandiosity, call miraculous, but you have to keep in mind your personal context, and contrast it with that of people who wrote the source texts, as well as that of the mage(s) who made the talisman you’re purchasing.

To take a concrete example, if you’re living in debt, have been chronically ill your entire life, and struggle with severe attachment issues, purchasing a talisman will not make you wealthy and debt-free, able-bodied and attachment-secure overnight. Provided the talisman is well-made and compatible with you, it will certainly help to better your situation, but because the circumstances are what they are in These Times, it will take more work than for someone who’s already been more at ease to achieve certain things. Inequalities and systemic power issues do not suddenly disappear with magic, even very potent magic—we do not exist in a vacuum.

Depending on their own experiences (and relative privilege), people who wrote grimoires as well as contemporary astromages who sell talismans might not necessarily have this in mind when writing. The latter might even have a vested interested in not highlighting it, if their utmost priority is to sell as much as possible. Spiritual bypassing also plays into it big time.

This all begs the questions: what are the expectations? Keeping in mind that astrological magic is not “realistic” by the standard of what this word usually entails, how can we nevertheless manage to stay sufficiently down to earth?

I don’t have ready-made answers. I think your mileage may vary when it comes to the necessity of assessing where you’re at, grounding, and planning ahead—but at any rate, I think these are questions worth asking ourselves.

Until next time ✨
