First the internet, then cloud, now AI. For nearly thirty years, “digital transformation” was seen as a series of technology waves. That reflex is why most companies miss what makes AI different: it is not a technology question for the IT roadmap, but a strategy question for the C-suite. Firms selling it as a transformation program and companies buying it that way are repeating the same thirty-year-old mistake—just for different reasons, and at higher cost.
