Sandisk's Plan to Remove $300K of DRAM from a Single Storage Server

This week, the team filmed a super-cool networking tour video and then headed to FMS 2026. While we were there, it was clear that the NAND and DRAM makers were doing better than they were a year ago. Samsung, SK hynix, and Micron all play in both NAND and DRAM production, but companies like Kioxia and Sandisk focus only on NAND. As a result, Sandisk had something on display that was more than just its high bandwidth flash (HBF) in its booth that, combined with a server node on the show floor, removes a lot of NAND from a storage server.

The drive above was tucked away in an ESD bag, not on display. It is the engineering sample for a 245.76 TB NVMe SSD that uses Sandisk’s new technology, which was also not highlighted in the company’s press release, so there is not a ton of information out there on the drive.
