these past two weeks i’ve been making cut out eyes.

one hundred eyes in and i’m not bored

you can make an eye from the tiniest of studio scraps.

the components of these cut out eyes are relatively simple, but the colors, textures and layers keep them fun and interesting!

in this week’s studio update, i’m sharing my eye experiments plus artwork that’s inspiring me right now.

STUDIO REMINDERS:
- believe what you are seeing
- is there another dimension to explore?
- make a plan
- do it again and again until you know what you are doing
- what if it works out

things that are a balm in this moment:

  • routine

  • the music of Amadou & Mariam (this month Amadou passed away)

  • Irish, Scottish and Australian police procedural books - right now Tana French, Dervla McTiernan, Ann Cleeves and Jane Harper. in a time of endless scrolling, i appreciate a clear beginning, middle and end

  • actual balms, salves, and body mists by Mia Zia

Josef Albers
