Hello, lovely reader!

I hope you and those you love are happy, safe, and well. I'm praying for God's peace and love to rest on the world, and on you, too, especially in these troubled times.

Thank you for everyone who prayed for me last week after a kitten scratched my eye. I am so glad and grateful that the eye is now completely healed and my vision is back to normal. Two of the kittens tend to swipe a paw at anything that moves, so I make sure to keep them well away from my face now!

In the meantime, I’ve been busy working on the house, hoping to make the back bedroom, something of a disaster area, into a comfortable bedroom and writing space. Weed whacking. Dehydrating the copious marrows (giant zucchini) and yellow melons my sweet neighbour keeps giving me. Quietly processing some insights for the story I’m stalled on. Trying to sort and translate and get officially rubber-stamped all the documents I need for my Bulgarian residency visa application.

I have the appointment at the London Embassy on September . Even if all my paperwork is correctly rubber-stamped, my feeling is there’s only a 50/50 chance this complicated application (as an online worker with multiple income sources) will be successful. I’m doing all I can to improve those odds, and putting the rest in God’s hands. There’s a great comfort in trusting him with the outcome and praying “Your will be done.”

And on to the book news — not so much happening this week from or my author friends, so it’s straight into the link to my page with this week’s f-r-e-e Christian ebook suggestions.

I’ll keep making weekly suggestions for no-cost Christian ebooks, including new additions to my to-be-read library. But because a number of readers have reported that the links in the email newsletter didn’t work for them, I’m now posting the book links on a webpage instead. You’ll find the links here!

END OF SUMMER CHRISTIAN FICTION READS!

If you’re looking for something new to read, this group promo features over 60 Christian fiction ebooks in a range of genres. Includes my ebook sets This Can’t be Love (enemies-to-love romances), That Sunflower Summer (romances set in the UK and Italy, linked by a family mystery), Love for a Lifetime (romances with main characters aged 35 to 82), and From Friends to Forever (friends-to love romances).

CHRISTIAN FICTION FIRST-IN-SERIES

This group promo features over 30 Christian ebooks in a range of genres, all first in a series, all available in Kindle Unlimited for binge reading! Includes the first books from two of my series, His Father's Son (Sweetapple Falls, deeply emotional romances set in rural Oregon), and The Wedding List (romances set in and around a big London department store). If you don’t have Kindle Unlimited and want to know more (and access a no-cost trial), here’s a link to a page I set up about it.

Though the organisers specified that all books in these promos should be genuinely clean and faith-friendly, I can’t say for sure they all are, so please choose carefully!

The kittens are all well and happy, either asleep, eating, or playing. I tried my best to get a video of them playing, because some of the acrobatics they perform are amazing and such fun to watch. Unfortunately, every time, while I had my phone ready they all stopped playing and wanted to either eat or jump on my lap.

I had three on my lap a few seconds before taking this photo!

And here is Stripe, the one who scratched my eye, looking like he’s practising for a career as an opera singer but actually complaining because he wants to jump on my lap and it’s already full of cats!

I discovered a new kitten in our garden yesterday, an adorable little grey one with faint tabby stripes on her face. I suspect she might be the third kitten of a very nervous feral tabby mother who has been coming with the other two kittens for a few weeks, though I’m not sure why we haven’t seen her before. Possibly she’s been so very shy she made sure she wasn’t seen. Possibly she just wandered in. Or perhaps someone brought her here. Regardless, she is here, and she brings the total to twelve kittens.

Which makes the cat contraception issue a little lot more urgent. We’d been waiting until the vet opens his village clinic to get the boys neutered and until we had a car here to get the girls to the city for their operations. But as the vet still hasn’t opened his clinic and reliably getting injections for the older girls as a stopgap measure till they’re spayed is posing problems, my September visit here is likely to be spent organising rides to the city with a back seat filled with yowling cats in cat carriers, ferrying a car load a day to the vet there for neutering!

I’ve ordered more cat carriers. I have addresses for the best vets for neutering, who can cope with less tame cats and clients who say “I know I said I’d bring four but I could only catch three this morning.” I have two people willing to help with rides to the city, and once the cats are ready to come home I can always use a taxi to get them back here again. Now I just need enough time here to organise the daunting logistics of all this! And prayers, please! Lots of prayers!

This week's randomly chosen ebook winners are Melissa, Sharilyn, Raz, Lydia, and Jo. If your first name or the name in your email address matches one of the winners' names in the list above, reply letting me know which of my solo ebooks (sorry, sets are not included) you'd like as a free Bookfunnel download. You can see them all here. His Tender Mercy and Heart in Hiding aren't yet released, so if you opt for one of these, you'll be added to a wait list and get a copy when your choice is finally reader-ready.

This week's give.away — five subscribers who click any link in this email by Sunday, August 9, 2026 will be randomly chosen to win their choice of my ebooks and will be named in next week's newsletter.

Until next week, I'm praying you and those you love are happy and healthy, with many precious moments of peace and joy to brighten your days.

Blessings, and happy reading,

I love this promise! He makes all things new. And His Kingdom isn’t some far-future airy-fairy thing we don’t see till resurrection day! It’s something real that’s growing in our lives right now, as we walk with Jesus and open our hearts and minds to His Spirit, the Comforter He sends so we are never alone.
