I'm currently preparing for my first Mini GT-exclusive unboxing story. I just paid for five new cars, and already had two JDM machines at home. That means I'm missing three items for the complete line-up. I'm stuck in the same situation with two or three different Hot Wheels themes, too. But that's OK, as I still have two more weeks to prepare everything for September. That's when I start ... (…
I just reconnected with an old friend of mine recently. He's been "out of the loop" for a few years with some personal problems. We went drifting together over a decade ago, and we've known each other for almost 20 years now. And yet somehow, I don't think he's aware of my Hot Wheels "problem". He'll probably visit me at some point next ye... ( continue reading... )
My attempt to make a deal for a batch of older Hot Wheels collectibles fell through. The seller wanted 12 or 13 of my Premium cars, and I found circa 20 Mainline items I wanted in exchange. I just didn't expect he'd set the prices so high, as it initially looked like he was going for $4 per car. Something didn't feel right to me so I just wished him good luck with the sale. If he was right and I…
I'm currently negotiating swapping some of my loose premium Hot Wheels for some old, carded Mainlines. The guy who's selling them seems to be up for it, and he even wants the RLC Rockster I showed you recently. I'm happy to keep exploring instead of just amassing more and more tiny cars until I run out of room. I agree modern-era Hot Wheels are quite a bit more accurate compared to the real-world…
A few days ago someone on my local collector's group posted a photo of a room filled with Hot Wheels. There were hundreds of pre-2000 items in there, but also many modern era releases. Sadly, he only wanted to sell everything as a package, asking about $5,000 for the whole thing. Meanwhile, one of the guys in his town went and got the nicest cars in there and is now selling them in batches: 25…
I sometimes like to look at life like it's a video game. Often times, you can compare it to an RPG. Some people will focus on becoming wiser, other want to be stronger. You can keep learning new skills to help you on your quests, and you can "equip" various objects to your "inventory" as well. Of course, the "game" isn't exclusively about character building. Y... I just recently posted a Tarmac Works unboxing story, and am still buzzing about the Ferrari F40 GTE. It was available for $24.90 on the company's website, but is obviously sold out now. I might not keep it for my collection, as one of my colleague was amazed by how good the item looks and I decided to let him have it. I still have the ( continue reading... )
For the first time since I began writing (and taking photos for) these unboxing stories, I'm facing a major dilemma. I have no clue what my third theme for August will be. I still haven't taken delivery of my sELECTIONs Nissan Skyline, so an RLC-focused story won't be possible. I also don't have any more ( continue reading... )
My imagination often runs wild with certain situations. It's how I end up overthinking various scenarios. For the past week I kept thinking that the guy who wanted to buy 150 Hot Wheels from me wasn't real. Today, I met up with him after a two-hour drive and the transaction went smoothly. Not only that, but apparently he recognized me from YouTube as he's a JDM enthusiast himself and he knows the…
I've been planning to purge my Hot Wheels collection for many months now and have only recently managed to stick to that plan. It all went smoother than I had anticipated, as I used a simple "rule" I learned many years ago. It starts with a question: "Do I want to keep this item in my collection?" If the answer is yes, I'll set it aside. If the answer is "No"... ( continue reading... )
