Has Cadillac decided to add yet another moneymaker to its US lineup in the form of a brand-new XT6 premium compact crossover?

Before revealing the obvious answer to this question, we have to remind you that this vehicle hasn’t been a thing in our market since after the 2025 model year, as the automaker wanted to shift its focus to EVs. Production spanned between 2019 and 2025 at the Spring hill facility in Tennessee, and the model is still being put together in China, at the Jinqiao factory, as part of the SAIC-GM joint venture.

Now, as for the answer to the question popped in the intro, it is simply no. Well, not yet, anyway, because Cadillac plans to launch a brand-new XT6 after realizing that going all-in on electric vehicles may not have been the best strategy. You see, most people are not yet ready to go down the EV route, and Cadillac knows it. Therefore, a new XT6 is now in the pipeline, and it’s not a simple rumor, but official confirmation that came directly from Cadillac’s Global Vice President, Kristian Aquilina.

The official said that Cadillac is “a leader in electrification,” though admitted that the market has evolved. Therefore, the company has to align its “product mix with real-world customr adoption across the luxury market.” And “a key part of that is the return of the all-new XT6.” So, there you have it, folks, official confirmation that Cadillac is planning to relaunch the gas-powered XT6, after admitting that trying to go all-electric was a mistake.

But if the Cadillac XT6 is not real yet, not in our market, anyway, then what is up with the model shown in the gallery? Well, as mentioned in the title, it is a rendered project that has nothing to do with the real thing. It was signed by AutoYa and released on YouTube recently. The pixel manipulator calls it a 2027 facelift, though to be honest, we do not know when this model will launch, and what it will look like inside and out.

With that obvious remark off our chest, we have to tell you that the CGI updates are simple yet effective, and they cover the main aspects of a model that has gone through a mid-cycle refresh. Thus, you can see that the front lighting units mounted right below the hood are extremely slimmer this time around, and the vertical daytime running lights are now a bit taller. The front grille is also taller, and so is the central air intake in the new bumper, as well as the vents on the sides.

This is a facelift and not a new generation, so the profile of this rendered Cadillac XT6 carries over, albeit with a new set of wheels that sport a wire-like design. At the rear, things are a bit more discreet, though the taillights are clearly new, and so is the bumper, as well as the size and placement of the reflectors, and the tailpipe trim. The chrome trim in the middle of the tailgate was virtually deleted, and we have to admit that the SUV’s back end now looks a bit cleaner than before.

Are you a fan of Cadillac’s massive screens that stretch across the entire width of the dashboard? If you said no, then you will likely will not dig the interior of this rendered Cadillac XT6. That’s because it is a lot more digital than it used to be. It also sports a new two-spoke steering wheel, redesigned air vents, and a few other tweaks. The center console carries over with zero changes, from what we can see, and so does pretty much everything else.

Such a thing would also require some updates in the powertrain department to better play its “new” card. Over in China, it comes with a 2-liter four-pot making 237 hp (240 ps/174 kW) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque, paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive This model has a 130 mph (210 kph) top speed, and hits 62 mph (100 kph) in 8.8 seconds. America’s model had a 3.6L V6 engine with 310 hp (314 ps/231 kW) and 271 lb-ft (367 Nm) of torque.

Now, it is still too early to tell when the XT6 will return to Cadillac’s portfolio in North America. Mind you, that is officially, because unofficially, word on the street is that it might arrive at dealers nationwide either in 2028 or maybe 2029. The new XT5 is also in the making, and it will arrive sooner, as it is expected to touch down in our market in 2027.

So, are you excited about the arrival of a new XT5 and XT6 in the States? How do you feel about the virtual updates the latter model has received in these renderings? Would you get it over the real thing? Tell us all about it in the comments box below.
