To better preach their mission of general prosperity and long-term economic vitality for all, the Ulster County Industrial Development Agency held a mixer in Westpark last month at the Hudson House and Distillery.
Standing in groups swirling their cocktails or seated at tables, the crowd of near forty attendees, many favored brightly-colored polo shirts, had arrived via the 9W to receive the message and take in the swanky venue - a craft distillery facility and event space operating out of a revival style Italian Villa-
Outside some glass doors, an enormous deck allowed visitors to walk to the railed-edge and look down over the forested hill and to where it sloped into the Hudson River below.
When the Star Estate Development Group purchased the property for $583,000 in 2015, the villa and a building adjacent together operated as a monastery. What it became since is a testament to the advantages of collaboration with an industrial development agency.
