A Jamaican Revelation
I was born in the U.S. to Jamaican parents, but my identity has always been complex. When my father left and my stepfather a mix of Adventist and “Heathen” stepped in, I stopped fitting the pop-culture image of a Jamaican. Still, some things never change: oxtail, curry, jerk chicken, and the Patois that slips out when I’m frustrated. Identity can feel risky when divided, but join me for 40 days of rediscovering who you belong to because when that’s secure, everything else flows from it.
