Although Seasons of War is not the first book I published, it is the first book I ever wrote. These characters and this story has been with me since I was 17 years old, growing up with me, and sticking with me through every wonderful and horrible thing that has happened since. I waited to publish it until I felt like I was the author I needed to be to do it justice, and I rewrote it this year without holding anything back. Or worrying about whether it was good enough.
I also set goals for this book that I didn’t think I’d reach and felt afraid to hope for. 100 pre-orders, 200 ARC readers, and 50 Goodreads reviews. But thanks to all of you, we crushed those goals. The book released with 208 pre-orders, 713 ARC readers, and 102 Goodreads reviews! My heart is so incredibly full!!
A reviewer said that Seasons of War expects a great deal of its readers, and I hadn’t thought about that before, but it’s true. It’s a story about love battling to grow in the midst of a brutal war and hope straining to survive an empire bent on crushing all hope. The burn is slow, the emotions deep, and the pay-off hard earned. For anyone who enjoys dark dystopian romance with grit and the kind of victories earned in blood, then this book might mean as much to you as it has to me.
