After the success of Love and Mardi Gras, Lauryn Peña found herself returning to the story readers weren’t ready to leave behind. Shaped by personal loss, travel, and the lessons learned from her debut, she transformed grief into a new chapter that deepens both the emotional journey and sense of adventure. With Love and Austria, Lauryn invites readers to explore new destinations, embrace unexpected growth, and discover how travel, love, and resilience can lead us to parts of ourselves we never knew were waiting to be found.

Lauryn, your first novel Love and Mardi Gras was published in 2021. What inspired you to revisit these characters and continue their journey in Love and Austria?
When I wrote Love and Mardi Gras, I ended the book on a small cliffhanger. I hoped that readers could find parts of themselves in the characters and craft an ending they wanted. However, while I was on book tour during readings and signings, I kept getting asked, “What happens next?” and “Will you write another one to give the character a happy ending?” That’s when I decided that I needed to give the main character an ending she deserves as well as another adventure with some good drama along the way.
