Hey, guess what we’ve been up to?
❄️Not shoveling an SUV out, because Harmony’s new house has a garage! Whoot Whoot! Now, her mornings are drinking coffee, watching snowflakes 🌨️drift past the windows— instead of creative curses while chipping her car out of the snow. I wonder if her co-workers will notice her new zen-like 😌morning vibes?
👀Do you have a garage?👀 - I (Melody) park on the street. However I live in Canada so there’s less snow and plenty of friendly neighbors to shovel me out.
(If you are scratching your head at Harmony Noble’s newsletter… fyi… Harmony Noble is actually the Alaskan romance writing twins, Melody & Harmony. You get two for one, when you follow us!)
January always feels like a quiet, reflective month. I’m reflecting on the upcoming Groundhog’s Day & praying he doesn’t see his shadow!🐹
And can we talk about the Northern Lights for a sec? I spotted them right here in Vancouver, BC Canada- green water-colored ribbons, like being back in my small Alaska hometown.
One of Alaska’s Indigenous stories is that the Northern Lights are the spirits of ancestors dancing, playing ball with a walrus skull, or guiding loved ones from above—a reminder that joy, connection, and love never really disappear. Honestly? I can’t help but feel very tiny, very connected, and very special when I watch them magically tiptoe and twirl above me.
Instead of writing New Year’s resolutions, I’m writing last year’s gratitude—and my list is LONG. From hitting #1 on the Lesbian Romance Amazon Bestseller list to mastering stand-up paddleboarding (with about a hundred falls). Thank you for being part of my 2025 list. I know your 2025 gratitude list is probably overflowing too—and I hope 2026’s is already filling your journal pages.
❄️ January Alaska Fun Fact
Did you know Alaskans don’t measure winter by temperature—but by whether their eyeballs freeze when they step outside? Alaskans unofficially winter ranking:
I’m Cold → eyelashes freeze → nose hairs freeze → eyeballs freeze→ I’m staying home!
When it’s eyelashes-freezing-cold, you can’t wear contact lenses or they’ll freeze to your eyes.
