There's a lot of panic recently about the Internet. We're worried we won't be able to tell what's real and what's not.
The solution is very simple. Assume everything on the Internet isn't real.
That's more or less what we did at the beginning when it was all invented. We'd share photoshopped memes and we wouldn't even use our real names. We all had email addresses like coolboy99. It was full of hoaxes and anonymity. None of it was real.
And it didn't matter, because we never took it too seriously. It was a game. A curiosity.
The Internet is - and always has been - a virtual world. Literally a virtual world.
At some point we let it take over every aspect of our lives, like a kind of sickness, and we think it's some big disaster that we can't tell what's real and what's not.
But none of it ever was. The real world is beyond that plastic horizon. Real people, doing real things, real artists, real musicians, real stories, real lives, everywhere, all the time.
This might be the best thing that could happen to us. To realise that the dream is, in fact, a dream.
