Happy depths of August to all the summer people like me! Hope you’re soaking up sun and enjoying giving the side eye to all the Halloween decorations already popping up.

In some very exciting news, I am so thrilled to finally be able to share the pre-order campaign for The Apparent Trap! And this one is an absolute delight. You see, in the book, our main characters play a game of Trivial Pursuit, and I was thinking how fun it would be to make my own romance version. So that’s exactly what I did, and I recruited over 50 other romance authors to record questions to make it even more fun (yes, I am still a little verklempt over how many took the time out to join in. I’m very grateful!). If you order The Apparent Trap from one of our partner indie bookstores, you’ll get a game along with your book!
If you want to pick up in person we have participating stores in NYC, LA, Baltimore, Portland, Charlotte, Charleston, Philly and Louisville. But most of them ship too. Go here for more information.

And stay tuned for information about our virtual event—because you know we can’t stop having our virtual pajama parties for book releases. Save the date of Sunday November 1st for that!

But enough about me, on to happy books!

End of summer is the absolute perfect time to be reading something frothy, and I’ve got two suggestions for you this week!

The first is Rachel Lynn Solomon’s Extra Curricular. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I’m a fan of her work for years and years (Ex-Talk remains a favorite!). Her newest is about a burned out pop star inconveniently falling for her college professor. It sounds scandalous but it’s actually such a sweet story, with two people who just need a little bit of love. I really enjoyed this one.

And also newly released last week is Susan Lee’s See You at the Sunset, a romance about a woman who escapes to her grandmother's retirement community and runs into the executive who fired her. If you love a summer romcom and multigenerational stories then this one is for you.

It’s such a treat when the exact kind of cookbook comes along from the exact person you need it from. And that’s exactly what Serena Wolf’s You Do You is. Serena is one of the best people to follow online (and if you enjoy virtual cooking classes she is the absolute best). She makes everything feel attainable without being stuffy. And this book is the perfect encapsulation of her recipes—delicious, deceptively simple and always fun. This is one you need to pick up!

I love anything to do with libraries, so I loved this story about a new one in Colorado that is designed to teach people about nature and has both indoor and outdoor parts. Now, obviously I am someone who is not a hiker and will not be partaking in this, but there’s something cool about a library where you can also get snow shoes or go play in their mud pit. Fun for everyone!

I’m also someone who likes to find the good in the bad, and with a spate of earthquake stories lately, this one was incredible. In Japan, a team of surgeons and medical staff protected a person they were performing a surgery on as an earthquake was happening and then just… kept going?! Amazing

Hope you all have a lovely time with the last moments of summer and that you’re reading something wonderful! Enjoy The Apparent Trap’s preorder fun!
