My daughter, Abby Gomersall, was last seen on the morning of Saturday, October 25, 2025.
She’s a nineteen-year-old sophomore at Cal and she was driving down I-5 from Berkeley. My husband Brian and I don’t know where she was going. Neither do any of her friends.
We know she hit a road closure at the Tejon Pass due to heavy fog, and had to check into the Grapevine Inn in the town of Grapevine:
The hotel’s security cameras show her leaving early the next morning in her 2018 navy-blue Toyota Corolla. And she hasn’t been seen again.
Abby’s last text – the only one she wrote that day - was sent two hours before she stopped in Grapevine: a response to a female friend asking her to go out that night. She replied:
That text had the police questioning at first whether Abby was really missing at all, or just off on some jaunt to “find herself.” Or that maybe she was giving herself a private birthday present, a few days before the date.
Meaning they wasted several days that they could have been searching, while Brian and I went insane. And since that day, I’ve stayed insane. Pretty much.
There are people who know me who’d tell you I’ve always been a few apples short of a barrel. Some teachers I work with. The Dean of Undergrad Studies. That one neighbor who thought he could replace the local school board with his Neanderthal pals. Ask him how that went for him.
And yeah, I can be a bit much. But this is different. This is my baby. And believe me when I say: I will do anything I have to do to find her.
Abby is a good student, a good daughter, a good friend. She’s my world.
