China has carried out another long-range missile test over the Pacific Ocean, just hours after Australia and Fiji signed a new defence agreement aimed at strengthening regional security.

Australian Acting Prime Minister Richard Marles said Australia had been notified in advance that the launch would take place, but stressed the government remained concerned about anything that could undermine peace and stability across the Pacific.
