Poetry: discourse.cpp

This book was an early experiment in writing poetry using the technique of distributional semantics. It is fundamentally about things people say about things. And it was written by a computer (somewhat). The printed book was published by Peer Press, 2011. You can access a pdf version here.

Poetry: Walking along oneself

In the course of our monthly show on tech and philosopy, our tiny chatbot Botchen regularly ends up 'dreaming'. To train its dreaming module, I write short pieces of poetry that encourage less factual and dialogical patterns in the output. Here is an example of such a piece.

Fiction: Nowhood is your time

It had all started when The Authorities had been elected. What a joke, she had thought. Everybody was laughing about it and calling it a protest vote. No worries, no chance they would last. I mean, come on! A party who promises to replace the Moon with a hydrogen balloon!

Fiction: Under Linguistic Fire

Fire? The linguist grunted. Fire where and against what? The poor sods on the other side had retreated deep into their trench. All you could possibly shoot were air molecules. "Fire!!" shouted the lieutenant again.

Fiction: STOP

The linguist says she doesn't have time so could this please be quick QUERY The woman says she doesn't have time either she must learn that machine the telegraph because the virus killed the Internet STOP
