Life doesn’t pause when you travel. Whether you're exploring a new country, road-tripping across the U.S., or stepping away for a weekend retreat, maintaining your daily habits can be the difference between feeling energized and feeling scattered. That’s why I never leave home without The Miracle Morning.
For the uninitiated, The Miracle Morning is a powerful daily routine that is practiced by millions of people (as taught in the bestselling book by the same name) and is designed to elevate your mornings—and your life—using six of the most timeless and proven personal development practices, known as the SAVERS: Silence (meditation or prayer), Affirmations, Visualization, Exercise, Reading, and Scribing (journaling).
But how do you keep up with these habits when you’re in a different time zone, sleeping in unfamiliar places, or hopping from one adventure to the next?
The answer: make it both easy to do and an enhancement to your travel. Luckily, the SAVERS can be done effectively in as little as six minutes.
The beauty of The Miracle Morning is that it isn’t tied to a specific location—it’s a mindset and a commitment to starting your day with intention and purpose. Here’s how to adapt it while traveling:
1. Embrace the 6-Minute Miracle Morning
When time is tight, condense each SAVERS practice into one minute. Start your day with a minute of meditation, a quick set of affirmations, a brief visualization, a few push-ups or stretches, a page of reading, and a short journal entry to keep the momentum alive. It only takes six minutes to optimize your mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being.
2. Leverage Your Surroundings
Use your location to enhance your Miracle Morning. Meditate on a beach at sunrise, take an early walk through a quiet village, or read in a cozy café. Your environment can amplify the benefits of your practice.
3. Go Digital When Necessary
While I love a good old-fashioned notebook, sometimes it’s easier to travel light. The Miracle Morning App allows you to listen to guided SAVERS tracks, record affirmations, read or listen to book summaries, journal on the go, and more.
4. Redefine Exercise
A workout doesn’t require a gym. Hiking, swimming, yoga by the ocean, or even a quick bodyweight routine in your hotel room all count. If you wake up feeling groggy, as little as 30-60 seconds of jumping jacks will move blood and oxygen through your body, immediately increasing your levels of energy and mental clarity.
5. Let Go of Rigidity
Some days, you’ll complete the full Miracle Morning routine. Other days, you may only do a few SAVERS before an early flight or an adventure. That’s okay—the goal is progress, not perfection. The Miracle Morning app makes adjusting easy, offering shorter versions of each practice when needed.
Travel has taken me to some incredible places, each enhancing my mornings in unique ways:
Maui, Hawaii – A walking meditation on the beach at sunrise, journaling over Kona coffee, and soaking in the peaceful energy.
Sedona, Arizona – A morning hike through red rock landscapes, followed by Silence and Visualization in nature’s stillness.
Cabo San Lucas, Mexico – Yoga in the jungle, journaling with fresh coconut water, and reading by the ocean.
Paris, France – A quiet café, a croissant, and a book create the perfect setting for reflection and writing.
At the end of the day, The Miracle Morning isn’t about where you are—it’s about how you show up for yourself, no matter the location. Travel expands our horizons, but a grounding morning routine keeps us connected to who we are along the way.
So, whether you’re backpacking through Asia, road-tripping across America, or heading out for a weekend getaway, your best mornings—and best life—are always within reach.
Wishing you safe travels and Miracle Mornings wherever you go!
With Love & Gratitude,
- Hal Elrod
