The World Doesn't Need a Smaller Version of You

The Intentional Woman · AuJene'

For a long time, I struggled with one question.

How do I show all of who I am without confusing people?

One day I’m in a bikini on a beach halfway across the world.

The next day I’m in a board meeting.

The next day I’m raising money through my nonprofit.

Then I’m talking about beauty on socials.

Then business.

Then faith.

Then fashion.

Then humanitarian work.

Then personal growth.

I used to think I had to choose one.

Social media has a funny way of convincing us that you HAVE TO BE niche.

You’re either the travel girl.

The fitness girl.

The business girl.

The fashion girl.

The faith girl.

Pick one.

Stay there.

Never confuse the algorithm.

For a while, I believed that.

I thought maybe I needed to become easier to explain.

Smaller.

Simpler.

More digestible.

Then one day I realized something.

God never asked me to be digestible.

He asked me to be obedient.

I’m not one-dimensional.

Neither are you.

The same woman who loves luxury can also love service.

The same woman who enjoys five-star hotels can spend her weekends volunteering.

The same woman who wears bikinis can pray every morning.

The same woman who loves fashion can love financial literacy.

Those things don’t compete with each other.

They complete each other.

One of the things I’m most proud of this year is launching SWTGXO.

People always ask me where I stay.

What restaurants I recommend.

How I travel.

What I pack.

How I stay safe.

For the longest time, I would answer those questions one DM at a time.

Eventually my best friend looked at me and said,

“Why don’t you just create guides?”

Honestly...

My first response was,

“That sounds boring.”

I didn’t want another generic itinerary floating around the internet.

If I was going to create something, it needed to actually help women.

So that’s exactly what we did.

I spent weeks building guides I wish I had when I first started traveling.

Not AI-generated lists.

Not recycled blog posts.

Real recommendations.

Places I’ve actually stayed.

Restaurants I’ve actually eaten at.

Experiences I’ve actually had.

Safety tips I wish every woman knew before traveling alone.

Luxury recommendations.

Budget recommendations.

Airport tips.

Transportation.

Neighborhoods.

Packing.

Everything.

Because traveling beautifully is wonderful.

But traveling intentionally is even better.

Then there’s my nonprofit.

The Not So Boring Foundation.

People are sometimes surprised when they learn that’s such a huge part of my life.

But the truth is...

I’ve been doing humanitarian work for over a decade.

Long before it became content.

Long before anyone cared.

I’ve helped build homes.

Raised money for girls experiencing period poverty.

Partnered with organizations supporting young people transitioning out of juvenile detention.

Worked alongside incredible nonprofits that are changing lives every single day.

Not because it looks good online.

Because that’s who I am.

I’ve never believed influence should stop at inspiration.

It should create impact.

That’s why I always say I’m more interested in building longer tables than higher fences.

There is enough room for all of us.

Success means very little to me if it only benefits me.

I want my life to become proof that ambition and generosity can exist in the same woman.

Lately, I’ve also been quietly building something else.

Something I’ve dreamed about for years.

A swimwear line.

If you know me, you know how much I love swimwear.

I’ve probably owned hundreds of bikinis over the years.

I’ve studied fabrics.

Fits.

Construction.

What actually makes women feel confident.

And one day I realized...

Instead of waiting for someone else to build what I wanted...

Why not build it myself?

That question has changed my life more than once.

Why not create the company?

Why not write the book?

Why not start the nonprofit?

Why not launch the publication?

Why not build the product?

Why not become the woman you’ve been waiting to meet?

Somewhere along the way, I stopped asking for permission.

Not because I think I know everything.

Far from it.

I invest in mentors.

I ask questions.

I stay curious.

I learn from people who have already built what I’m trying to build.

Because mentorship shortens the distance between where you are and where you’re capable of going.

One of the biggest lessons business has taught me recently is that there is such a thing as working too much.

I genuinely love what I do.

I can spend twelve hours creating and not even notice.

But just because you enjoy your work doesn’t mean your body doesn’t need rest.

I’ve had to remind myself that rest isn’t laziness.

It’s preparation.

You cannot build a beautiful business while neglecting the woman building it.

The older I get, the more I realize this isn’t really about building businesses.

It’s about building a life.

The businesses simply become expressions of who you are.

Everything I’m creating points back to the same mission.

Helping women build beautiful lives on purpose.

Whether that’s through travel.

Through coaching.

Through philanthropy.

Through business.

Through beauty.

Or simply through one conversation that helps someone believe in themselves again.

People sometimes tell me,

“You’re doing too much.”

Maybe.

Or maybe I’m finally becoming exactly who I was created to be.

For years, I made the mistake of shrinking my dreams so other people could understand them.

Not anymore.

I don’t want a life that fits neatly into one category.

I want a life that’s fully lived.

And if that means some people don’t know how to describe me...

I’m okay with that.

Because I wasn’t created to fit inside a label.

I was created to build.

Have you ever felt like you had to shrink parts of yourself to make other people more comfortable?

What would your life look like if you gave yourself permission to be all of who you are?

With intention,

AuJené
