Event Recap and Summer Hosting Tips

Last week we loved helping our friends at Over the Moon debut their newest collaboration with Cabana in the Hamptons. This event was a classic al fresco Hamptons garden evening, showcasing the best of the collection while gathering some fabulous female entrepreneurs. Read on to see how we brought it together, along with some favorite summer hosting tips.

The Table

We always anchor our designs around a signature piece, and of course in this case it was the beautiful plates from the new collection. To add richness to the table, but not distract from the beauty of the collection, we used a full table linen in the complimentary Cabana Arcadian Floral and paired a pretty two-tone green piped tie-on cushion, something soft and a little residential, with the warm bamboo folding chairs.

Candlelight always adds intimacy and a glow, and we love these Olive Wave-Etched Hurricanes and Oxidized Brass Taper Holders from E&S Imports. I’m really loving the patina finish on these.

To round out the tabletop, we loved the punch of the Olive Marble Footed Glasses from E&S Imports. Pro tip: the water glass is always a great place to have a little fun on the table.

We kept the wine glass simple and used our trusted go-to bamboo flatware. We also added a few other favorites from the collection: an embroidered dinner napkin that was a nod to the floral linen, and these blue rattan chargers.

The floral was purely of the season, both potted and freshly cut from the garden in effect. Amanda of Studio Imbue kept the palette to simple whites and greens, which felt airy and fresh against the otherwise bold, pattern-forward design.

We love treating paper as a finishing accessory on the table. A little jewelry, if you will. In the spirit of summertime, we added a little punch of color with this vintage-leaning menu, reinterpreted Laura Lines Calligraphy.

Hosting Tips

A collected look on the table is always warm and inviting. Don’t make it too perfect!

Be sure to greet your guests with something beautiful upon arrival and always get a drink in their hands right away. Our fabulous culinary partner, Acquolina, used an array of Cabana glassware favorites in our palette for the evening. Upon arrival, guests had the option of a chilled white wine, a Hugo Spritz, sparkling water, and a berry fizz mocktail. Especially on hot summer nights, it’s important to remember to add something non-alcoholic as an option for hydration.

Three things every beautiful dinner party needs? Candlelight, a good playlist, and a spirited group. And for summer dinner parties, very chilled white wine. This party had all of the above!
