Samuel Kimball Merwin Jr. (1910–1996) was an American mystery writer, editor, and science fiction author best known in the genre for his editorial work — he served as editor of Startling Stories, Thrilling Wonder Stories, and Fantastic Universe, and was credited with raising the standard of published science fiction toward a more adult readership.
