Atlanta Bartlett · Atlanta Bartlett

Before I ever move a single thing in a room, I ask one question.

Not what colour should the walls be, or where should the sofa go. Not what’s missing, or what needs replacing.

How do you want to feel here?

Everything else follows from that. It always has. And yet it’s the question most of us skip — jumping straight to the doing, the buying, the fixing — without ever stopping to notice what the room is already telling us, or what we actually need from it.

These questions are an invitation to slow down before you change anything. You don’t need to write the answers down, although you might want to. You don’t need to act on them immediately. Sometimes just sitting with a question is enough to begin shifting something.
