Hello, we have quite a lot going on over here at Dandelion Designs; a brand new Teddy Bear club, Secret Society starts again, I have very very nearly finished the new book, Vicky is back from maternity leave, fabric range is ready for pre orders and a very very exciting trip coming up! As well as all the goings on in the workshop we have a very busy family month with 5 Shaw birthdays in May - including Phil’s BIG 70TH!!
Its all go go go and I love it!
So I am going to set aside a little time each week to fill you in on the goss at DDHQ, what’s new, what we’re loving, what we’re making, how the girls in the office are and of course what cake we have been devouring courtesy of Mel!

Redwork club
If you’re familiar with my work at Dandelion Designs you will know that we have a popular monthly sewing clubs and Secret Society of Redwork Stitchery and Crafty Loveliness is back for it’s 9th year! Starting in June 2026 until May 2027, its 12 months of delicious sewing sent straight to your door.
I absolutely love hosting the Secret society club gathering inspiration all throughout the year; of course a lot is drawn from gardens here in beautiful Sussex - King Johns nursery, Sarah Ravens at Perch hills open days, oh and of course my beautiful garden. But I also gather inspiration from the colours and odd ends I stumble across at carboots, open houses, National Trust and again my own home and antique collection of quilts (watch out for a video of tour of those coming soon!) ! It’s wonderful to spend the year mustering up ideas and watching them all come to fruition with traditional redwork quilts and sewing projects.
This new years projects inspiration is drawn from an old book Pictures and Patchwork by Priscilla Warner - it will be a hexagonal quilt with delicious little redworks inspired by vintage childlike pictures of mine and my children’s childhoods- ohh just writing this out is very exciting!
Each month you’ll receive a block to sew, plus a newsletter with Mel’s infamous recipes, and the odd seasonal gift or kit too! Plus of course each month you will get a free download pattern which you’ll find on your exclusive Secret Society Homepage along with other patterns free to download too!
