Dr. Bérénice Benayoun is one of the leading researchers in the world on big data, sex differences, and immune function. Most recently, she published a paper that made waves because it revealed a direct link between the gut microbiota and ovarian health.
Her contribution to the field also includes co-authoring an important paper that explores tools and approaches to ovarian aging. She has been the recipient of many prestigious grants, including from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.
By all metrics in academia she should have a lot of access to funding. Sadly, her lab is now on the receiving end of the NIH cuts…
Please support fundamental research to figure out this organ, which remains an unsolved (and unloved) mystery.
What her academic institute’s funding drive will support:
The Benayoun Lab is interested in understanding sex differences in aging and age-related disease, as well as mechanisms regulating ovarian aging. Your support of this fund will fuel groundbreaking research, provide new treatment hope, and bolster research tools for future discoveries.
NOTE: The Drive ends on June 1st, 2026.
This is a gentle reminder that, even though it feels like women’s health is getting “popular,” funding for important foundational science is still not there.
If you are interested in tackling the problem of scientific funding, let’s talk.
