DJ Newman - Newman was drafted by the Astros in the 15th round last year and after some injuries this year, the outfielder is swinging it well. This week he hit .474 with a double, 2 home runs and 10 runs batted in. Overall this season he’s hitting .319 over 45 games.

Ben Tryon - Tryon was selected by the Astros in the 17th round of this year’s draft and is off to a nice start. This week for the Woodpeckers he hit .500 with a double, a home run and 5 runs batted in. It’s early for him, but he’s off to a good start in his pro career.

Logan Hughes - Drafted #17 overall in the 2026 draft, Hughes is off a really strong start. This week he played in four games and hit .368 with 3 doubles, a triple, 4 runs batted in and 6 stolen bases. Like Tryon, he’s off to a really nice start in the Astros system.

Kam Durnin - Another draftee, Durnin was selected din the 4th round of the 2026 draft. He played in four games this week for the Woodpeckers and hit .412 with a double, a home run, 3 runs batted in and 3 stolen bases. Really nice start for a few of the Astros 2026 draftees.

Juan Fraide - Fraide has been a really nice find and having a strong season. After starting in the FCL, the right-hander got promoted to Fayetteville where he’s been even better. This week he tossed 6 scoreless innings with 5 strikeouts. He has a 2.96 ERA in Fayetteville.

Bryce Mayer - After dominating Double-A, Mayer earned a promotion to Sugar Land. His first outing wasn’t great but he was back to form this week allowing 1 run over 6 innings. Overall he has a 3.12 ERA with 105 strikeouts across 78 innings between Double-A and Triple-A.

Nolan DeVos - DeVos’ breakout in Double-A has continued with another good game. This week the right-hander tossed 4 scoreless innings with zero walks to 8 strikeouts. In Double-A DeVos has a 1.93 ERA with 6 walks to 32 strikeouts over 23.1 innings.

Jose Guedez - Guedez missed some time with an injury for a few years and has transitioned to relief, but was really good this week. Across three outings, the right-hander tossed 4.2 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts. The overall numbers haven’t been great, but he had a nice week.
