Ray was a great pro footballer. He then became the first to bring corporate finance and risk into football, with sale and leaseback. True innovation. He then bought the archetypal sportech company Prozone. He ran Coventry City for an American hedge fund, and had to deal with manager and agent nonsense. With his game face and ruthlessness. Poor Ian Dowie.
He nearly bought Glasgow Rangers.
He and I met in 2003 around a listed betting tech company called Trading Sports PLC. And were joined on the cap table by the legendary insane horsing owner Terry Ramsden.
Ray is a great judge of footballing horse flesh. Listen to his view on England’s chances.
Without bias, this is objectively a must-listen.
