White Crochet Coverup | Woven Bag

I almost titled this post “what I’m wearing to the pool as a mom of two boys,” which is technically accurate—but it didn’t feel like a great headline because these are actually cute looks. What I really mean is: these swimsuits are family-friendly but still make you feel cute, a little sexy, and generally like you didn’t completely give up on your personal style the second summer started.

Poolside or resort style is about having a few good swimsuits. And then the coverups, sandals, sunglasses, and extras that make the whole thing feel pulled together. Once those pieces are in place, you can repeat them all summer and it still works.

This is more or less the formula I come back to every year, including this white crochet coverup that somehow returns to my suitcase every vacation. Let’s get into it.

I use a mineral tinted sunscreen everyday (usually as my makeup bc I don’t really wear foundation unless it’s a night out or event). I’ve been loving this one per my dorm recommendation. It’s a good shade, gives a healthy glow and doesn’t make me look too oily by the end of the day.

Start with silhouettes you know you feel good in. A classic one-piece (I get a medium in these and have a few colors), a dependable bikini (these bottoms are the best—I wear a medium), a few bikini tops (and this polka dot is so chic) that I mix with these bottoms, and a strapless option that feels slightly elevated. I want swim that I can be a mom in or feel cute sipping a marg on an adults trip.

I feel like a coverup is really what makes the entire look come together. A linen short set, a pareo, a great linen pant, or a simple slip dress (size down in this. I got an XS) you can throw on and go to lunch in. Think pieces that could pass for real clothes away from the pool.

A structured tote, simple sandals, good sunglasses, and jewelry that can handle sunscreen (the best mineral spray, blends in easily with zero white cast. I purchased 4 bottles last summer). None of it needs to be complicated but I do look for pieces that feel stylish and functional.
