A few years ago, I started a cleaning schedule, and it genuinely changed my life. I’m calmer, happier, and more grounded now… it’s amazing what maintaining a little discipline and order in my home can do for one’s mental health!
I’ve realized that a truly clean home doesn’t come from marathon cleaning sessions (although I do looove to watch those on TikTok)— it comes from small, consistent habits that actually are doable. This is the routine I follow every day. I spend just 10–20 minutes on cleaning and because each day has its focus, it never feels overwhelming. As with any habit, it becomes second nature over time (yes, I genuinely am excited to wake up to “Fresh Sheet Friday” ha…)
If you’ve ever felt like you’re constantly cleaning but your space never quite feels clean, this might be the realistic approach you’ve been looking for.
The Foundation: Daily Reset
These are the non negotiables that keep things from piling up. Think of this as maintenance, not deep cleaning.
Daily
☐ Wash dishes / load dishwasher
☐ Wipe down counters
☐ Put away cups & bowls
☐ Empty kitchen trash if full
☐ Laundry as needed
☐ Put clothes away
☐ Make beds
☐ 10–15 minute end‑of‑day tidy
This last one is everything. I set a timer, put on music or a podcast, and reset the space before bed. Waking up to a tidy home changes everything. Linking my go-to cleaning playlist here.
Weekly rhythm (one focus per day)
Assigning a category to each day keeps cleaning from bleeding into your entire week.
Monday — Bedrooms
☐ Vacuum floors
☐ Tidy bedrooms
☐ Dust bedside & console tables
Tuesday — Bathrooms & colored laundry
☐ Wash colored laundry
☐ Wash bath mats
☐ Clean toilets (in & around)
☐ Wipe mirrors
☐ Mop floors
Wednesday — Kitchen reset
☐ Scrub stove
☐ Wipe appliances
☐ Clean kitchen table
☐ Toss old food & clean out Tupperware
Thursday — Floors & whites
☐ Wash white laundry
☐ Vacuum floors
☐ Wipe down microwave
Friday — Fresh start for the weekend
☐ Wash & change bedsheets (having two sets makes this so much easier— I wash with my white laundry on Thursdays ahead of Fresh Sheet Friday)
☐ Empty small trash cans around the house
Weekend
☐ Rest. Enjoy your space!! Don’t waste your Sunday doing a massive reset.
Once a Month:
These are the tasks that make your home feel really put together.
☐ Wash & change duvet cover
☐ Clean & organize fridge
☐ Check pantry for expired items
☐ Clean out car / car wash
☐ Deep clean shower
☐ Dry cleaning (changes in terms of frequency for me— in winter, I go more often because of my sweaters!)
Seasonal & long‑term upkeep
I keep these on a running list so I don’t forget about them.
Every 3 months
☐ Declutter products / closet & donate
☐ Change water filters
☐ Clean air vents
☐ Deep clean rugs or carpets
☐ Clean light fixtures
☐ Tidy drawers
☐ Wash couch slipcovers
☐ Clean out & rotate closet seasonally
Every 6 months
☐ Organize junk drawers / closets
☐ Toss expired vitamins & supplements
☐ Wash windows
☐ Clean upholstered furniture
☐ Check smoke detector batteries
☐ Deep clean oven
What I skip when I’m tired (permission to rest)
Some weeks, I am so overwhelmed, I don’t get to everything. And that’s perfectly okay. The goal of this isn’t a perfect schedule, it’s a SUPPORTIVE one. It’s meant to make your life easier, not harder.
I stick to the daily reset and call it.
I hope this helps you— as always, let me know if you’d like more information on cleaning products I use and recommend or would like to see this vlog style! Excited for 2026 with this beautiful community!!
