Our primary bath was the one room of our house we didn’t tackle during our home remodel this past year. Our budget (and sanity) was the cause for pause —but I’m excited to eventually get there when timing is right for us. For fellow impatient people, here is something valuable I’ve learned in this process: the one good thing about the length of renovations is having that time to be incredibly intentional… besides the finish product of course! While you’re in it, it’s painful… but come the end—I looked around so proud of how thoughtful I was about selecting every detail. It is such a reward.
Until our next project unfolds, I have been saving so many beautiful bathrooms and I want to share them with you. Bath and powder spaces are something I have been drawn to far before having the chance to bring my design visions to life. I think for me, bathrooms are the perfect opportunity to have fun! Being a smaller space, more private and intimate, yet something we utilize daily… it’s worth thinking through the details and creating a space that inspires, calms, and most importantly brings you joy.
Some field notes on the study of bathroom design…
The main character in my eyes is always going to be a gorgeous slab of marble. Teamed with polished nickel (my hardware preference of choice), a classic tile or a roman clay finish wall (using a special top coat) like in the photo above. So beautiful.
I always gravitate to old world charm and will forever include vintage. And don’t forget to have fun with the textiles! We had Grace’s shower curtains custom made (using Perennial Fabric, ‘the Jake stripe’) and a little valance to hang above them. I bought these insane green murano towel racks that are so cool and unique. Ethereal and charming. Both of these captures feel like a dreamy vacation. You can create the same feeling in your home!
As a bath enthusiast, I dream of someday acquiring a big beautiful tub. Just looking at these scenes make me feel held and relaxed. The telephone faucet!

In love with how both of these spaces give you said old-world charm but feel equally fresh and current. It’s the clean marble that keeps it sleek! Obsessed with the blue cheese stone on the right. Delicious! Perfectly paired with traditional details, antiques, fun lighting… chefs kiss.
Letting you in one of my secrets: every detail can be special if you take the time to be thoughtful. Some think that there are some items that are just fine to be left boring… but my brain is always seeking out the best potential in everything.
Lighting, knobs, towel racks, trash bins, q-tip holders… they can have their own moment, too. I say, let every detail count, especially in small spaces.
Get crafty with the marble scraps and dream big with the small details. In love with marble baseboards and door/window frames.

A hobnail votive to use as a Q-Tip holder. If you’ve followed me for awhile you may remember back when I lived in SF and I was in a big vintage vase collecting phase. I ordered this incredible murano vase and the seller included this little votive holder that looks somewhat similar to this one. It turned out to be such a favorite home piece of mine! Seeing it daily on my counter holding q-tips brings a ridiculous amount of joy, it’s just the cutest.
Rejuvenation sconce. This is as charming as can be! It must be new.
Zara Home woven trash bin. Chic.
Vintage gold leaf mirror. Whether it be over the sink or on a blank wall in the space, including a vintage mirror always adds warmth and charm.
Woven tissue box. Also check Etsy for these! So many cute and creative options out there.
Vintage stool. So cute as a little tub side table.
