Thunder Burgerz is planning to open in the former Taco Boy restaurant location at 521 Haywood Road in West Asheville, according to city permits. The locally-owned restaurant concept is a nod to Asheville and Western North Carolina’s car racing heritage, including the fact that the cult classic “Thunder Road” was filmed in Asheville in the 1950s. The restaurant serves burgers, hot dogs, wings, sandwiches and more, according to the Thunder Burgerz website. The original Thunder Burgerz location is on Smoky Park Highway.
