Over the past three days, 127 Americans have bought USAID flags for their Members of Congress.
From West Virginia to Alaska to Arkansas to Nevada, we have all united in one mission: restore USAID now.
Because together, each of us are the US Agency for International Development. We are the Foreign Service Officers, Personal Services Contractors, Institutional Support Contractors, Foreign Service Nationals, Local Direct Hires, and employees of implementing partners. We are the students who still dream about serving their country’s humanitarian mission. We are the returned Peace Corps volunteers. We are the veterans and diplomats who worked side by side with USAID to keep our country safe from disease, terrorists, and instability. And we are the taxpayers who made that mission possible. Together, we are America. We are USAID. And we believe that we must restore USAID now. We believe this is a message that must be delivered to every congressional office - Democrat, Republican, or Independent. And we believe that our flag is the best way to deliver that message.
Thus far, together, 127 of us have raised $4,509. We are just $3,491 away from reaching our goal and delivering 1,000 USAID flags to Members of Congress.

I believe in patriotism. I believe in raising our flag high. I believe in being proud of a country that has saved 26 million lives from HIV/AIDS. I believe we are far from perfect, but in our best moments we stood for democracy, human rights, women’s empowerment, global development, and a legacy that we all can be proud of. USAID represented that legacy. It represented the best of us. And if we work together, it can be restored.
