A few little tidbits of news coming from San Diego Comic Con for you.
If you happen to be at San Diego Comic Con tomorrow you might want to join Tyler and myself at the Black Mask Studios Panel. We’ve been keeping this one as a surprise. We’re having an intimate little panel where we just might be showing the first ever footage released from a little movie we made about kids and banking. It isn’t going online after. We won’t show it again. If you don’t come you won’t see it until you buy a ticket at your local theater.
The panel should be a ton of fun as we’ll be joining Black Mask head, comic writer (Calexit, Young Terrorists), and producer of the 4 KIDS WALK INTO A BANK movie Matteo Pizzolo along with our buddy, comic creator and filmmaker Adam Egypt Mortimer (Ballistic, ARCH ENEMY). We’re going to talk about hollywood stuff and comics stuff and how it’s all connected. Saturday 7/25 at 5pm in Room 28DE. Hope to see some of you there.
In another bit of news today, EW broke the story that I am going to be writing some comics about the NYC’s best boys.
Starting with issue #25 I am the new writer on TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES. Calling it an honor is an understatement, of course. The original TMNT is one of my first loves in all of comics. My parents were called in to see my teacher when I was in 3rd grade because I wouldn’t stop making (very violent) comics about the boys. Well, you tried to stop me, Mrs. Hart. But you only slowed me down.
I’m so excited to carry on the legacy of one of the greatest comics ever produced and follow in the footsteps of so many of the greats like Jim Lawson, Erik Larsen, Sophie Campbell, Tom Waltz, and so many more. The past couple years of TMNT has seen some of my literal favorite comic creators take over the book and create some of my favorite Turtles comics of all time. Jason Aaron, Juan Ferreyra, Gene Luen Yang, and Freddie E. Williams will be leaving some pretty big shoes to fill but it’s an honor to try. And of course none of us would be here without the masters Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird.
For this brawl through the streets of New York I’m joined by the amazing Juann Cabal and Luis Antonio Delgado, along with my longtime Punisher editor, the brilliant Jake Thomas, plus all the great folks at IDW. I couldn’t ask for better teammates on this one. We’re going to put the boys through the wringer in 2027. Come get in some street fights with us.
And that’s about it.
Oh wait…
Agent Rook would like a word with you this December.
That’s it for me.
Stay safe. Take care of each other. Rest in peace Lou.
